August 2016
Working in the heat, preparing for the rainy season. We need to build a number of walls to protect the house from the floods.

The barrancos - ravines - that ridge every mountain here stay dry year round - except for those few times during the rainy season when it rains heavily. Then, they fill up quickly, and the water starts eating at the dry soil at record speed and with unimaginable force while it makes its way downward, toward the sea.

To keep it from expanding towards the house, there is no choice but to build walls. The price of living out in the country - but it is fun and good exercise.
