Philadelphia has over 600 murals, a true cultural treasure.
But few get under your skin as deeply as this one, on the 1300 block of South 50th Street.
It honours fifteen real victims of urban violence in that part of the city.
It was commissioned
by a neighbourhood support group.
When it was created in 1999, it served as a memorial.
A newspaper article relates that some of the relatives
would visit the place every day.
Some details are almost unbearable
to take in...
... knowing that these are real scenes
The mural is around the corner at
Woodland Av & 50th St tram stop.
Lines 11 and 34 serve it from Center City.
