Freek van der Herten from Spatie, a legendary software company in the Laravel space, is an example of how a competent programmer can already 10x their output with AI tools.

🌸 These are such remarkable times. Only one month I ago I started work on Bloom, a native MacOS agent orchestrator.

It's now my most used app for my daily work. Some of my colleagues are using it too.

Less then one year ago I couldn't have dreamt that doing this was possible

Try it here: https://runbloom.app

We're doing almost daily releases: here's our changelog: https://lnkd.in/d7QCxGgM

Oh, we also open-sourced it (again)

Feedback is most welcome!

And yes, I do think developing in the cloud will be the future (Amp and such), but for local stuff an app like Bloom is nice!

👍 Also, I really feel an app like this must match your personality / preference a bit, so I listed some alternatives on our site

I switched an online booking portal's geo features (Maps, Geocoding, Places lookup) from Google to a self-hosted Open-source setup running on a cheap VPS in record time 🤯

It took 3:15 hours from VPS setup to everything running in production. Before AI, this would have been a week's project at least

Apart from being cleaner GDPR wise, this is going to save hundreds of Euros per month in API fees.

I'd never have thought it possible without the inspiration of indie hacking legend Pieter Levels' replacing all his SaaS subscriptions with self-hosted Open Source and vibe coded services and talking about it constantly on Twitter!

Techno-optimist take of the day: the Shinto Software Spirit

We are on the cusp of replacing every horrible, unaccountable, disrespectful institution in our lives with a local Shinto software spirit that quickly and cheerfully does what bureaucracy used to

Thank goodness for subsidised AI subscriptions 😅

I've been working very intensely on a couple bigger projects and my Claude Max $99 subscription allowed me to use tokens that would have cost me $2,209 had I consumed them through the API.

It shows how insanely subsidized these plans still are, and what real world pricing might look like long term.

All the more reason to build token efficient workflows that move as much of the computing burden as possible to deterministic tools, ideally running on your own hardware!

Crazy the level of detail that Claude Code pays attention to changing a simple background image on a web site - completely unprompted
