Your web mechanic:
Pekka Gaiser
I have been working professionally as a web developer, designer, and administrator since 2001.
After working as a junior web developer at IT London-based consulting company, KAI, I was a long-term contractor to several advertising agencies and media companies in southern Germany, working on client projects, as well as doing programming work on Cologne’s official web portal, koeln.de, at NetCologne. I oversaw a leading German organic food brand’s digital presence for more than two decades, and a vehicle rental chain’s booking systems since 2008.
As a freelancer, I have developed dozens of large web platforms, custom applications, content management systems, and web sites, mostly based on PHP, WordPress and Laravel, occasionally also working with Drupal, Redmine, ResourceSpace, and others.
I have always been an active contributor in support forums and on Q&A sites. On the world’s #1 programming Q&A site, Stack Overflow, I was a long-term worldwide top ten user. I was also extremely active on the site’s Meta helping shape its rules, community, and culture, and brainstorm solutions to problems that lead to an often unnecessarily hostile culture of dealing with beginners and newcomers.
I have always had a pronounced talent for finding solutions to complex technical problems – even ones that seemed unsolvable – and quickly understanding new systems.
My other professional areas of interest include design and marketing – branding, digital content, copywriting, and authentic, sincere storytelling and marketing.
Location & workflow
Originally from Germany, I live and work in the rural north of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands, part of Spain.
My main clientele is located in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK, where I also occasionally travel.
To ensure great connectivity, I have four Internet connections: Wimax (a kind of long-range wifi) with Wifi Canarias; a 5G mobile connection with Orange; a satellite connection with Hispasat and another with Starlink.
This ensures I can offer reliable service and work with large amounts of data when necessary.
Security
My work devices are protected by a fingerprint scanner and have fully encrypted hard disks. Backup copies and other data are also always stored encrypted.
To learn more about how your data is handled on my premises and on servers, see my privacy policy and GDPR data protection statement.
